Cyberstalking is simply online stalking. It is defined as the use of technology such as the internet to harass someone. Common characteristics include threats, monitoring, accusations, and identity theft. Stalkes use various communication types to stalk, including email, instant messages and even phone calls. Maintain control over physical access to your computer and cell phone. Cyberstalkers often install software to monitor and steal your identity.
Always log out of websites and programs if you step away from your computer. Use a screensaver with a password.
Never share your passwords with others. Make sure you use strong passwords.
Review your privacy settings on social networks. There is a lot of information there, such as your name, date of birth, where you work, etc.
Turn off metadata in your photo. When you post photos, metadata can include where it was taken, the device it was taken on and other private information.
